Statement

My sculpture practice is figure-based compositions using ceramics and ferrous cement.

I think of my work as a silent conversation between internal narratives and external gesture and expression. I am drawn to ideas around how our stories shape the construct of our reality and with this, the presentation of the self.

I make figures that encapsulate life's dramas, from intimate inner conflicts to broader societal concerns. I alter body parts - to enable the body  to appear both realistic and surreal, through this, I hope the viewer attaches to the familiar and is curious about the things that don't seem to fit.

Some of the work is autobiographical, some are narratives from the lives of others, real or imagined .
